Stakeholder Consultation on a European Strategy for Low-Emission Mobility (26-01-2017)
The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is drafting an opinion on "A European Strategy for Low-Emission Mobility ".
Within the framework of a package of measures aiming at accelerating the transition to low-carbon emissions in all sectors of the economy in Europe, the European Commission presented on 20 July 2016 a Communication on a European Strategy for Low-Emission Mobility (COM(2016) 501 final), which outlines the initiatives that the Commission is planning in the coming years in the transport sector, in order to accelerate the shift towards low-emission mobility.
The Commission underlines in its Communication that Cities and local authorities are crucial for the delivery of the strategy, and explicitly invites the Committee of the Regions, together with the other European institutions, to endorse the strategy.
The rapporteur for the opinion, József RIBÁNYI (HU/EPP), Vice-President of County Council of Tolna Megye, would be pleased to meet with representatives of local and regional associations and other stakeholders for a consultation and an exchange of views on the relevant topic of this opinion.
