Gear 2030

The European Commission has launched the new high level expert group on automotive industry Gear 2030, with a two-year mandate. This high level group aims to establish agreements on the priority topics of the automotive industry.

Gear 2030 is composed of 25 national authorities and European industry representatives such as manufacturers, raw material dealers, trade union, researchers, etc. It will continue the dialogue set by CARS 2020 and CARS 21 and will organize its tasks through a three-level structure:

  • The High Level Group (HLG) meetings will take place oncea year and will have a political representation.
  • The Sherpa group will organize the HLG meetings.
  • There will be 3 working groups to tackle the priorities identified by the EC:
    • Adaptation of the EU value chain.
    • Trade, international harmonization and global competitiveness.
    • Roadmap on Highly Automated vehicles.
